what's happening at "COUNTRY LEGENDS" I hope you will join me weekday afternoons between 3pm and 7pm.

A Few Things About Sam Whitmire...
I was raised on 3000 acre farm and ranch in northwest Denton county and attended a small country school with about a hundred students grades 1 thru 12. After taking some radio/television classes in college I was hooked on radio. My first real radio job came in August of 1975 in Athens Texas. From there I wound up working at "1190 KLIF" in Dallas when it changed to a country format. From KLIF I was lucky enough to wind up doing afternoon drive on southern California's most listened to country station "KSON" in San Diego during most of the 1980's. Every major country recording artist came to San Diego at some point and I was fortunate enough to meet most of them. Being a native Texan I returned to north Texas and went to work for "98.7 KLUV" in Dallas in 1991 After almost 14 years at KLUV and the "ABC RADIO NETWORK" in Dallas I got out of radio to buy and sell classic/collector automobiles and motorcycles. But when "Country Legends 92.1" went on the air in Sundance Square downtown Ft.Worth. I just had to join the fun here.
My Wife and I have three dogs, mine is a Pickaphoo named "HUD" after the Paul Newman movie from 1963. Yes she thinks I like her cats! I like to restore "Honda 305 Scrambler" motorcycles that were produced in the mid 1960's.
My wife and I love the beach and head for Galveston for a weekend every chance we get. I don't have a favorite movie...however my favorite TV show of all time is the "ROUTE 66" series from 1960 T0 1964. I have them all on dvd. A Corvette and a two lane blacktop highway...what more do you need!
