Mar 7th & 8th - 4th Annual Chocolate Fest

  • Chocolate lovers unite! Treat yourself to chocolate for a good cause at the 4th Annual Chocolate Fest in Grapevine. All proceeds from the event - featuring more than 30 of the finest chocolatiers in the D/FW region - will go toward Traveler's Aid Dallas/Fort Worth, a United Way agency whose mission is to provide information and social services to the DFW Airport and surrounding communities. 
  • In support of Traveler's Aid D/FW, guests can enjoy an evening under the stars indulging in decadent chocolates and sipping fine wine on March 7th from 7 to 10pm. This event will be held at La Buena Vida Vineyards located on 416 E. College Street in Grapevine. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $35 or $40 at the door.
  • On Saturday, March 8th from 11am to 3pm - spend the day indulging in chocolate and perusing unique pieces of art at the Palace Arts Center in Historic Downtown Grapevine located on 300 S. Main Street. Art demos and exhibits from local artists will be on display. Tickets for this event are $14 or $15 at the door, and includes 10 chocolate samples. Admittance for children ages 7 and under is $5.

Mar 9th - Jam For Junior 

  • A benefit concert for the family of James "Junior" Vaughn a 21 year old Texas Music Fan who was recently killed in an auto accident

  • Gates open at Noon and the music kicks off at 1pm

Mar 29th - 4th Annual Fannin Co. Expo 

  • The 4th Annual Fannin County Master Gardeners Garden, Lawn & Home Expo will be held March 29th from 9am to 4pm at the new Multi-Purpose Complex on Hwy 56 W at FM 87 in Bonham.
  • Over 40 vendors and five knowledgeable speakers, such as Jesse Gunn Stephens and Kimberly Scoffield will be there.
  • Applications for vendor booths during the expo and our Service Directory listings are being accepted. Booths start at $50, Service Directory listings are only $10.
  • A Silent Auction benefitting the Fannin County Master Gardeners scholarship fund will be held and door prizes will be given throughout the day.

Apr 26th - Walk for Lupus Now 2008

  • The Lupus Foundation of America, North Texas Chapter will be holding a 5K Walk for Lupus Now 2008 on April 26th, 8am - noon in Historical Park. The Park is located at 2540 Farmers Branch Lane in Farmers Branch.
  • The Foundations purpose is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of lupus, support individuals and families affected by the disease, increase awareness of lupus among health professionals and the public, and find the causes and cure. Their fundraising goal is $57,500 this year.
  • This years walk will honor Kodie Gouge (8/15/91 - 7/30/05) and other children who face living with this disease every day.
  •  To participate you will need to visit the Walk for Lupus website, register to walk, personalize your webpage, and start raising funds to support the Walk.

Operation Forever Free

  • Organization providing assistance to wounded service men and women, and their families, many of which have suffered life-altering injuries.

Save a Smile - Kohl's Cares For Kids

  • Save a Smile targets children from predetermined elementary schools in underserved areas who are at a high risk for dental disease
  • More than 80 dentists volunteer with Save a Smile, conducting 11,885 dental screenings and donating $1.3 million of dental services throughout the program's existence over the last three years
  • So, far Save a Smile has helped more than 670 children who had severe dental disease and were suffering from great dental pain
  • Primarily funded by Kohl's Department Stores Kohl's Cares for Kids program, Save a Smile is a collaborative partnership of Cook Children's with the Fort Worth District Dental Society, Communities In Schools, and the Fort Worth, H-E-B and Keller Independent School Districts

Freedom Alliance Scholarships

  • Freedom Alliance provides tuition assistance to dependents of troops killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty

 

Volunteer Host Families Needed

  • The SHARE! High School Exchange Program is seeking volunteers for the upcoming school year to act as host families for international exchange students
  • Students are between the ages of 15 and 18, have their own medical insurance, spending money, and are from 30 different countries

Toll-Free Legal Hotline

  • Legal Aid of Northwest Texas provides a toll-free legal hotline from 9am to 12 noon Monday through Friday
  • If you are eligible, lawyers will answer questions and take applications for further representation on most civil cases

  • Legal Aid of Northwest Texas has been providing civil legal aid to the low income community since 1951
